1981 An urban conjecture for Los Angeles, this vision proposes “Kleig” search lights spaced one mile apart for the duration of Mullholland Boulevard interconnected to each other that would make a fence of light visible from both sides of the Santa Monica Mountain chain. I envisioned this installation for the 1984 Olympics. |
 |
1987 A competition sponsored by the Los Angeles Times appealing to a vision for an urban landmark I proposed a gateway visible from miles away linking east with west framed by a gently curving colossal concave oriental arch conceptually linking each state of the union with a media display elevator where xenon lights illuminate the heavens and the observation deck Is approximately 5, 380 feet above ground which is the distance in miles between New York and Los Angeles. |

1994 Growing up with my pediatrician next door I would never have imagined having the opportunity of making a levitating chip of the earth out of a process I imagined to have been created in Italy. This urban space is a remodeled 1962 office lobby space inspired by smart economics and the inexpensive materials of metal studs and drywall where I hope to make people aware of their overhead space. |

2002 Set designing in the virtual computer environment was created from sketches that arose from art deco research. Gotham for this iteration of Batman was angular and bold. |

1995 The concept for this commercial shot live-action in Red Rock Canyon, California addressed life before the internet where your
telephone company provided a majority of information. We rented 3 noisy Vietnam vintage Huey helicoptors. |
 |
2002 The assembly line reinterpreted was partially built live action set and partially painted as a mural. |

2003 This set inspired young talent to showcase their energy. This modest future set is reversible, so that we could stretch our budget and shoot a different look with the other side of the set. |

1995 Six million can buy a lot of sets anywhere. And I was responsible for creating and Art Directing five of nine sets with an incredible team of talent. |
 |
1993 My first experience of designing and art directing for celluloid revealed
more similiarities than differences between fantasy and reality. Image inspiration
unites Gaudi's Casa Battlo, the Wizard's great hall in OZ, with the flight attendant's hat
who walks a complete 360 degree path in Kubrick's 2001, a Space Oddessy.
This was a 3 million dollar budget commercial for a product launch campaign.
Three sound stages were used at Raleigh studios. I also worked as a carpenter
to deliver my own design! |

1987 Resulted from curating an exhibition at a gallery of Life Guard stations
designed by the blueblood Architects. My solution is derived from the structure and form
of a grasshopper, the advertising of a billboard on a wind surfing apparatus,
and the wheels of an automobile. |

1989 A condominium fireplace addressing art and function
with cold rolled steel, stainless steel, aluminum and glass.
A spark creates fire.
Fire destroys matter and creates heat.
When matter is destroyed new patterns arise.
Time is measured and recorded with mechanical devices.
Light is used to sketch unpredicted relationships.
Fragment and whole are addresed.
The installation is an intrusion to domestic space.
This alien is welcomed.

A big studio tank job that lost millions and gave our imaginations the opportunity to run wild in the Art Department. The sets came alive on this one! |

1991 Fabricated welded cold rolled STEEL:
Designed for an executive gymnasium,
the first model is designed for supporting a television
above a stationary walking machine and
the second model provides support for ointments, towels
a kleenex dispenser and both are wired for sound with a headphone
hook.

I explore a chair interpretation of the African log drum, and metronome
complemented by the xylophonic table. |

2004 Sketches of an unrealized linear element connecting two points
with ideas ranging in a vocabulary of nature's bamboo like structure and abstract
machine parts. This remodel is partially realized in Laurel Canyon.

Design ideas generated included the development of a single story ranch home into a landmark for entertainment, seclusion, accessibility, and inspiration. The garage second story addition replete with a helmet mask accommodates a unique storage system inspired by the wing of a bird that will execute a sculptural effect from the flotsam and jetsom of today's pressured lifestyle. |

2006 Concept sketch for the ultimate bachelor pad on top of a mountain

in progress of a 1940's single story cabin.
It will appear as a land based chitin arthropod.

Cistern is in development now. This innovative Hollywood Hillside, Fire safe
refuge derives it's concept from Sangallo's Well in Orvieto: the Pozzo Di San Patrizio and is part of a trilogy of energy wise neighbors designed for zero energy consumption
in an apocolyptic paradise where water and wind and the sun filter and provide a unique luxury level of living. |
