SACRED SPACE
Circa 2008
MEDIA ROOM
This unique interior ceiling creates a dream like imaginary space where entertainment transports us to new worlds. The story continues to unfold.
BOAT HOUSE
This second story remodel was so weather-beaten by termites, we support the new framing with a brand new continuous concrete footing. The original Spanish modesty will be transformed into an open arced second floor space defined by a central curved glue laminated spinal beam where exposed wood reminds one of the strakes of a ship's hull that hovers overhead.
HACIENDA
Tripling the area of this tiny family home has become a beacon in the neighborhood. The campanile shapes a stair tower that showers light on all family members and their guests through stained glass windows beneath an open beam belvedere. And the intrepid dad gets to park his airstreams in rustic splendor.
ROCA
The tower element in this suburban second story remodel is derived from a bay in the original 1933 tract home that recreates a fresh breakfast space and shapes a relaxing master library, replete with rural rocker and deep pile carpet.
CIRCLE WALL
The Circle Wall project is inspired by the Crawford Residence circumscribing the site with the creation of an exterior forecourt marked by an axis connecting entry, fire, water and light. This project is the inception of my studio, and eighteen years later the client has asked us to remodel the remodel by adding a new second floor suite.
FLYING ROOF
The necessity for combining work and living at home inspired us to create an open office accessible from the yard and transform this postwar single story tract home into a modern presence in the townscape.
VERTICAL STACK
The grade change for this hillside home will result in more space for working at home that includes a guest suite and more cars in a crowded streetscape.

SOLAR SAIL
Circa 2006
We converted the design studio to solar powered electrical energy and now obtain hot water from solar tubes with a conventional gas fired hot water heater back-up system.
